Love Does Not Rejoice About Injustice

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "LOVE is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It DOES NOT REJOICE ABOUT INJUSTICE but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

"Love and justice go hand in hand- you can't have one without the other. Justice without love is cruelty, and love without justice is a permissive, anything goes attitude." -Zach Sumner

God is the ultimate judge. The only way to REALLY know the things that are right and wrong is to read His Word! So, what does 1 Corinthians mean when it says that 'love does not rejoice about injustice?' It can relate to a few different things. One way we can look at it is that we don't just think it's okay when we sin against God. Such as, "I love you God... I went to a crazy party and did things that I shouldn't have last night... but it's okay because I still love you."

Proverbs 28:13- "He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."

God is just, so there's no way of fooling Him. Since He sent His Son to die for us on the cross, He is able to forgive us for our sins, putting the punishment on Christ. The sacrifice of God's Son for us is an atonement for our sins, and it shows that God believes in justice and doing what it right.

Proverbs 28:5, 7- "Evil people don't understand justice, but those who follow the Lord understand completely." "Young people who obey the law are wise; those with wild friends bring shame to their parents."

Unfortunately, most of our society glorifies sin. Media treats sin like a frozen meal. Frozen meals look great on the packages. Looking at the package in the store makes your mouth water for the good meal shown in the picture. Even more, the low price and the convincing words on commercials push you to buy into frozen meals time after time. We all know how the story ends, though. The meal you get is nothing like the meal in the picture, and the consequences are not exactly what you had in mind.

In the same way, T.V., music, and word or mouth can make sin look very appetising. But just like the food in the picture compared to what it really is, sinning never turns out right. If we act a certain way, we get praised for it, even if doing whatever we did wasn't very honorable. The problem with all of this is that God says it's wrong! He loves us, and He will not pretend that doing the wrong thing is good.

Continue striving to live up to God's standard, and stand for the RIGHT thing. If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything. Rejoice about justice, rejoice about love.
